Janice A.
Bosie
July 11, 1946 – January 12, 2025
Janice A. Bosie, 78, of Perth Amboy, passed away peacefully at home on January 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 11, 1946, in Perth Amboy, she was a lifelong resident of the town she cherished. Janice was a devoted communicant of Blessed John Paul II Parish at St. Stephen's Church.
During her children's younger years, Janice was an active member of the PTO in Perth Amboy, where she took pride in organizing memorable events, including popular '50s dances. She spent many years working at Bankers Savings and later continued her career at Catholic Charities after the bank was sold.
Janice's favorite pastimes included enjoying a glass of wine, playing cards, and spending time at the shore—though not necessarily on the beach—with her family. Above all, she was a devoted mother and grandmother whose love and dedication were the cornerstone of her life.
Janice was predeceased by her parents Bernard and Sophie Urbanski, her beloved husband, Bernard Bosie, and a brother, Edward Urbanski.
She is survived by two sons, Jeff Bosie, and his wife, Vicki, of Bernardsville; and Brian Bosie, and his wife, Nicole, of Woodbridge; a daughter, Jill Bruno, and her former husband, Gary Bruno, of Sewaren; sister-in-law Deborah Urbanski; niece Jessica Urbanski; nephew Nicholas Urbanski; and three cherished grandchildren: Sophie, Heather, and Anthony.
Beyond enjoying a glass of Shiraz with treasured friends, she loved a spirited game of 500 Rummy, tackling a challenging crossword puzzle, or rolling the dice in a lively round of LRC (Left, Right, Center). Her true passion, however, was spending quality time with her family. She also cherished the joy of running into old and new friends at her favorite restaurants, like Strawberries—where she was a fixture on Tuesday nights at her favorite table—or The Barge.
Her sense of humor and radiant smile could light up any room, and she valued every interaction, whether it was sharing a laugh or offering comfort to someone in need. Known and loved by so many, she held a special place in the hearts of all who met her. Some might even call her a local legend, recognized by affectionate names such as MaBos, Mimi, Grammi, and, of course, Mom. But above all, she was known simply as a friend to all.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 4-8 pm at the Flynn and Son/Mitruska Funeral Home 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral services will begin Friday, 9:15 am, at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Funeral Liturgy at St. Stephen's Church in Perth Amboy. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Janice's name may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Make a Wish Foundation
