Janet Stein passed away at the age of 86 on April 2, 2016,  in Georgetown, Texas, where she had lived since October, 2016.   A ceremony was held, April 7, 2017 at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Iselin, New Jersey.

Janet was born on April 29, 1930, in Newark, New Jersey, to Max and Anna Gottfried.  She grew up with her older brother, Sheldon,  in Newark and graduated from Weequahic High School.

She married the love of her life,  Eugene Stein,  in 1949 and they were the parents of two daughters, Meryl and Amy Stein.  The family moved to California in 1961 and Janet and Eugene lived there until Gene's death in 1995. Janet worked for many years in the aerospace industry and traveled with Gene extensively around the world.  Besides traveling, she loved to play mahjong, knit and read.

Janet was very proud of her two daughters, Meryl Stein (husband, Allan Van Nostrand) and Amy Stein, both of Georgetown, Texas.   She is also survived by 5 grandchildren:  Sarah, Meg and Daniel Van Nostrand and Beau and Tess Flemister.  She recently become a great grandmother to Winifred Mae Van Nostrand-Henke and Nachman Flemister-Gale.

She will be greatly missed by all, but will remain "forever young"  in our hearts.
