Obituary

James Emerich Pollak, 84, of Menlo Park Terrace, NJ, passed peacefully into eternal rest on January 8th, 2011.

"Jimmy", as he was known by close friends, was born in Cleveland Ohio, but grew up in Czechoslovakia, where he resided until returning to Ohio when he was 21. A Menlo Park resident since 1976, he was easily recognized by the Hungarian accent that stayed with him throughout his life. Jimmy was an active, caring, and gentle member of St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church. His interests included bowling, camping, soccer, and above all his loving wife, daughter, and two granddaughters, on whom he doted.
His interest and skills led him to a career in auto body repair where he plied his trade at Shorty's Auto Body in Rahway, NJ until he retired in 1991. He continued to use his many skills to assist others in need throughout his life. Nobody ever had to ask for help twice when Jimmy was around.

He is predeceased by his parents, Anna & Karoyl Pollak, and brother, Frank (Ferenc) Pollak. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Joan Elizabeth Pollak of Menlo Park Terrace; his daughter, Barbara Trevena of Beachwood; two grandchildren: Courtney Rae and Laurel Brooke; extended family in both the U.S. and Slovakia, which includes cherished Goddaughter, Marta Szotak of Chantilly VA, will also hold his memory dear.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, January 19th from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m., at FLYNN AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, where a Funeral Service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Cremation will be private.
