Obituary

James W. Olsen 92, of Metuchen, entered into eternal rest, March 16, 2016 at the N J Veterans Home in Menlo Park. He was born on February 6, 1924 in Fords, to Fred and Florence Greiner Olsen, and was the youngest of four sons.

Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife Ida in 1994. He is survived by children Linda Di Maggio and her husband Dominick of Waretown, Janice Holdsworth and her husband Brian of Long Neck, DE, and Dr. James F. Olsen and his wife Lisa of Broomfield, CO. He was the beloved Pop - Pop to his 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his devoted friend Alice Stefanchik of Berkeley Heights.

He served his country as a sergeant in the US Air Force Third Staging Wing during WW II.

Jim started his career as an instrument supervisor for United Engineers and Constructors. In 1960 he started his own company, Panel Control Inc., in Metuchen, building instrument control panels retiring in 1989. His largest jobs were for PSE & G furnishing panels to all their generating stations including their first nuclear power plant in Salem, NJ.

He was a long time member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Metuchen, serving on the Vestry, teaching Sunday school, and ushering for the early morning service, as well as ringing the bell.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday March 23, 2016 at 11 am at St. Luke's Episcopal Church 17 Oak Avenue, Metuchen, NJ. There will be no visiting hours and entombment will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions are requested to Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center or Susan G. Komen research for Breast Cancer. Arrangements are under the direction of the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home 319 Amboy Ave, Metuchen.
