James W.
"Jimmy" Hyland
Mar 28, 1964 — Nov 20, 2020
On Friday, November 20, 2020, James William Hyland, loving and devoted husband to Amy and father to daughter, Corinne and son, Christopher unexpectedly passed at age 56. Jimmy leaves behind his brother John and his wife Patricia "Patti", three sisters Kathy and her husband Michael Calabrese, Nancy and her husband Peter Burgess and Theresa "Terri" and her husband Ron DeTore and several nieces and nephews. Jimmy was preceded by his parents John "Jack" and Martha Hyland. Jimmy was a true family man who was always delighted to spend time with his big family whom he loved dearly and a sincere person to his countless number of friends.
Jimmy was born in Newark, New Jersey on March 28, 1964 and raised in Irvington, New Jersey before moving to Virginia Beach, Virginia for a short period of time. After finding the snail-paced living-style was not suited for him, he returned to New Jersey where he met his wife. They settled down in Fords, New Jersey where they raise their family. He was very comfortable being back in the fast-paced environment that he had left.
Jimmy was a crafted carpenter all his adult life, building stunning and spectacular homes most recently in the Lakewood, New Jersey area. In addition, he always made himself available and was willing to help anyone in need with all and any aspects of home building and renovations, using his detailed expertise. When he was not working on someone's home, he spent time soaring the roads like an eagle on his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his wife. He also enjoyed spending invaluable time with his friends shooting billiards. Jimmy relished spending countless weekends at their second home known as "The Property" located in Lawton, Pennsylvania, near Clarks Summit, PA.
Jimmy was an easy-going laid-back kind of guy who always found the good in people. He was a humble and kind individual who had a unique laugh and continually found entertainment in a bad situation. He would have a band aid on his hand; only to find out he shot a nail through it. The fix to this was to just pull it out, slap on a band aid and move on, sounding his infectious laugh.
He definitely was not your suit and tie, stuffy kind of guy. So it is encouraged that you wear your favorite Harley Davidson or worn tee-shirt and jeans to visit him on his last journey with us. He would not have it any other way.
Jimmy's life will be celebrated at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, New Jersey on Saturday, November 28, 2020 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. A celebration of life is being considered near the one year anniversary of his departure. Please stay in touch with his family for further details as they are arranged. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations in Jimmy's memory to the Edison VFW Memorial Post 3117, 53 National Road, Edison, NJ 08817. This will make Jimmy truly happy.
