James Bernard Gerak died at his home in Sayreville on April 4. Born and raised in Perth Amboy, he served in the army as a ballistic meteorologist. After receiving an honorable discharge, he trained as a machinist. He worked for Anaconda Copper, Hyatt Roller Bearing, General Motors, and Anheuser Busch, retiring in 2009.
An avid sports fan, he was a lifelong supporter of the New York Yankees and Giants. He also had a soft spot for opera, especially the works of Giacomo Puccini.
He is survived by his wife Beverly of Sayreville, his daughter Dayna and her husband Peter of Dallas, TX, and his mother Vilma and sister Marjorie of Englishtown. He is predeceased by his father, James.
A Eucharist Service will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church 183 Rector Street, Perth Amboy on Saturday, April 11 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers contributions are requested to St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
