James Henry Darway, Sr. 73, of Edison, NJ, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Wednesday March 6, 2024, surrounded by his family, and loved ones at the JFK Medical Center in Edison.

He was born on June 11, 1950, and raised in Rivercess County in Liberia, West Africa. He immigrated to the United States in 1981.  He resided in Edison Twp for the last 28 years and will be dearly missed and always remembered.

He retired as an employee of L'Oreal/Lancôme Fragrances Inc. in Piscataway, NJ after more than 25 years of service.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Aisha M Darway, who died on February 9, 2016; parents, John Togar Darway and Conwree Boweh Darway; brothers, Morris Darway, Anthony Darway, and Sundayway Darway; sisters, Mardea Darway and Yarway Darway; and stepson, Chandler Thomas.

He leaves behind his sons: James H. Darway, Jr. and his wife, Danielle Kahora Darway; Trent Chaben Darway and his wife, Kimberly Darway; Kevin Darway and his wife, Veronica Ortiz; and his stepson, Derrick Thomas; his daughters: Nanuh Darway and Raquel Conwree Darway; his brothers: Jesey Pepper Darway, Lewis Darway; his sister, Rebecca Trocon Darwa;. his mother-in-law, Annie B. Pennoh; his grandchildren: Adrianna Nemeth, James H. Darway III, Charleigh Ryan Darway, Nicholas Murillo, Ryder Nixon Darway, Ashton Darway, Aisha Thomas, Chandler Thomas Jr., Christian Thomas; his step-granddaughter, Mya Ortiz; and his beloved dog, Jaycee.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday morning at 10 am on March 23, 2024.  We request that all of James's loved ones join us in celebrating his beautiful life at Flynn and Son Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be on Friday March 22, 2024, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863.
