Obituary

James Robert "Bob" McLaughlin, 92,of Fords, passed peacefully on Thursday, April 23,2015, with his family by his side, at the Haven Hospice Unit at the JFK Medical Center Edison.

He was born in Hopewell and resided in Fords for the past 64 years.


Bob was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion T. Nulty Post #471, Iselin and was a communicant of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd Parish, Perth Amboy.

He was married to his beloved wife, Eunice, for 69 years and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, great grandfather, son and brother.

Bob retired from the Kaiser Aluminum Company, in Edison, where he was a member of the softball and bowling teams. He also played baseball in the Union County League and had won trophies for trap and skeet shooting. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, camping, and dancing.

He was a former member of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, Iselin Ceili Club, and Monmouth Set Dancers.

Along with his loving wife, Bob leaves behind his three beloved daughters, Maureen Bucchere of Broken Arrow, OK, Gail Kennedy and her husband Ian, of Davis, CA, and Robin Shambaugh of Ringoes, NJ; his eight grandchildren, Casey, James, Stephen, Megan, Breanne, Robert, Braidy, and Erin; eight great-grandchildren; Patrick, Shannon, Lauren, Brendan, Paul, Kyle, Brady and Addison and his brother, Thomas of Hopewell.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ethel and Dewey; and his five brothers, John, Dewey, Joseph, Vernon and Patrick and his son-in-law Salvatore.

Visiting will be held from 2 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 27, 2015 at beginning at 9 a.m. from the Flynn and Son Funeral home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at Holy Spirit R.C. Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Perth Amboy. Interment will follow at the Lake Nelson Memorial Park Cemetery, Piscataway.
