J. Harold Levy of Perth Amboy passed away at Monroe Village in Monroe, NJ on Sunday, August 08, 2010 at the age of 93.
Born in Perth Amboy, he graduated Perth Amboy High School, New York University School of Commerce and New York University Graduate School of Business.
After graduating, he started his career at Flagstaff Foods, a wholesale food distributor in Perth Amboy where he met and married Diana Greenspan in 1941 who predeceased him in 1980.
He was active in many organizations: President of Perth Amboy YMHA, President Perth Amboy Community Council, Chairman UJA campaign, President NJ section JWB now JCC of America, and member of United Way and Jewish Federation. He was President of the Board of Trustees of Rutgers Preparatory School as well as Chairmen of Perth Amboy Board of Adjustment, member of the Board of Trustees Bankers Saving Bank and a member of Beth Mordecai Temple.
Surviving are his three children: Linda Hamelsky and her husband, Melvin, Hamelsky of Princeton, NJ; Dr. Charles Levy of Houston, Texas; and Amy Levy and her husband Terrance Sellheim of Washington, D.C. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Victoria Zuckerman and her husband Steven and their children, Lauren, Jack and Eric of Lancaster, PA; Andrew Hamelsky and his wife Sandy and their children, Matthew and Jessica of Marlboro, NJ; and Larry Hamelsky and his wife Susan and their children Jordan, Samantha, and Eli of Boston, MA; Josh Levy of Austin Tx; Douglas Levy of Washington, DC; Will Sellheim of Washington, DC; and Anna Sellheim of Washington, DC.

Private graveside services were held on Wednesday August 11, 2010 under the direction of the Flynn & Son/Koyen Funeral Home, Metuchen.
