Dessel
July 1, 1933 – July 2, 2021
Irving Dessel, 88, of Edison, entered into eternal rest July 2, 2021. He was born in New Brunswick and had resided in Edison for the past 60 years.
Irving retired as a Sales Rep for Strober Lumber after working there for 15 years. Prior to his retirement he worked at Dessel's Metuchen Food Market for over 40 years. Irving joined the Army in 1953 and served as a Crypto Specialist during the Korean War. He received several medals and continued to serve in the Reserves until 1961. He was a member of Temple Neve Shalom in Metuchen.
Irving was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years, Brenda and his brother, Bernard Dessel.
He is survived by his children: Debbie Barbosa and her husband, Victor, of Edison; David and his wife, Laura, of Chester; Darrin and his wife, Kimberly, of East Brunswick; his grandchildren: Eric, Sarah, Tim, Dan, Tom, Lauren, and Scott; his loving siblings: Eileen Newmier, Sandra Wymore, and Marlene Gordon; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be on Monday, July 5, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Beth Israel Memorial Park. Please meet at the cemetery office.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to St. Judes Children's Hospital.
