Irving G. Deakyne, 61, a lifelong resident of Edison, passed unexpectedly on Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerville..

He retired in June of 2014 as facility manager of the Grounds Dept., after serving over 40 years with the Edison Township Board of Education.

He was an avid Elvis Presley Fan and a  member of the "Edison Light Cruisers".

Pre-deceased by his beloved parents; Irving and Rita, Irving leaves behind his beloved wife of 26 years, Jeralyn (Mastrola) Deakyne, his two sons, James Deakyne and daughter-in-law, Martina, of Edison, Donald Deakyne and daughter-in-law Jill, of Fords, his two daughters, Chelsea Marie Deakyne at home and her boyfriend Scott Hogrebe, and Allison Grace Deakyne at home. as well, his five grandchildren; Samantha, Jacqueline, Kaitlyn, Madison, and Donovan. Three brothers, Robert Deakyne and his wife Diane, of Edison, Charles Deakyne of Florida, and Joseph Deakyne and his companion Donna Siciliano of Edison, his sister, Eva Carbone of Florida and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm with a service at 5 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863. Cremation will follow privately.
