Irma Marta Gutiérrez, (Bomnín García), 95, of Perth Amboy, passed away surrounded by her family on April 25, 2019, at JFK Haven Hospice in Edison.  Born in Pinar Del Río, Cuba, to Antonio and Marta Bomnín, Irma was a resident of Perth Amboy since 1970.  She was a graduate of the University of Havana and received a Ph.D. in Education.  She went on to study at Fairleigh Dickinson University where she received an equivalency Ph.D.  Irma was a Spanish teacher at St. Mary High School in Perth Amboy and then worked as a Social Worker for six years for Rutgers University in New Brunswick.  She was a devout Catholic, praying the Rosary every day and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Irma was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Armando Gutierrez (2013).

She is survived by her two daughters, Irma M. Adán and son-in-law, José, and Olga R. Fitzgibbons and son-in-law, James; three grandchildren: James, Marta and John; a sister, Olga Besú; a brother, Orlando Bomnín and wife, Alida; nephews, Antonio Bomnín and Orlando Bomnín, Jr.; and multiple nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 29, 2019, at 9:30 AM from Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Ave., Perth Amboy, followed by a 10 AM Funeral Liturgy at St. John Paul II Parish, St Stephen's Church, Perth Amboy.  A procession to Rosehill Crematory will follow.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 2 PM to 6 PM at Flynn and Son Funeral Home.
