Irene M Newman entered into eternal rest on October 5, 2025. Irene was born on October 10, 1933 in Raritan Twp Amboy Ave. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Perth Amboy in 1951 at the top of her class. She married Carl E Newman and moved to Fords which became her permanent home. Irene worked as an Administrative Assistant most of her life in Raritan Copperworks, Fords Lawnmower, and retiring later in life as a Teachers' Assistant at Community Nursery School in Metuchen. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, music, traveling, and being with friends. Most of all, Irene enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Irene was a member of the Women's Club of Fords (past President), Our Lady of Peace Church Altar Rosary Society and Columbiettes.
She is predeceased by her parents, Stephen Vereb and Elizabeth (Karajz) Vereb; her husband, Carl Newman in 1983; her siblings, Stephen, Elizabeth, John, Mary, Anne, and Rose. Surviving are her sons, Robert Newman, Paul Newman and daughter-in-law, Julia; and her daughter Bettyann Martineau. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Chelsea, Scott, Alessandra and Eleanor.
Cremation is private. Memorial visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Flynn and Son / Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral services will begin the same morning at the funeral home at 10:00 AM, with a 10:30 AM funeral mass at Our Lady of Peace Church, Fords, NJ. Interment of cremated remains will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Irene's memory may do so by taking a moment to reflect, read something meaningful, or spend time with loved ones - just as she would have done.

We will all miss you terribly, but we take comfort knowing you are now reunited with Dad in love and peace. As we mourn your passing, we also celebrate the incredible life you lived and the countless lives you touched affectionately known as Mema to all. Your spirit will continue to guide and inspire us always. Rest in eternal peace. Your love will forever remain in our hearts
