Irene D. Murray Henry 91 of Fords entered into eternal rest, September 21, 2015 at the Bey Lea Village Care Center in Toms River. She was born in Perth Amboy and has resided in Fords for the past 66 years.
Irene was a Red Cross Volunteer during WW II at the hospital in Camp Kilmer and also worked at Titeflex plant assembling airplane parts. After the war she was a Division Manager at Sears & Roebuck in Perth Amboy for many years. While her children were in school she was the PTA president at School #14 in Fords, and then went on to be a Receptionist at Raritan Bay Medical Center for 15 years before retiring in 1986.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Perth Amboy and the Presbyterian Women at the church. She was also a member of the Market Square Seniors.
Irene was an avid bird lover and friends would save bread for her so she could feed her feathered friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Lindley in 1996 and her daughter and son-in-law Lisa in 2007 and Joseph in 2011. Irene is survived by her son Scott and his wife Diane of Forked River, five grandchildren Steven, Kenny, Ian, Joshua, and Jessica, and two great grandchildren Jocelyn and Jared. She is also survived by her niece Johnetta Matkowsky and her husband Ray and their children Aaron and Caitlin.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 23 Ford Avenue Fords, Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden. Visitation is Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
