Ida R. Gawlak (nee DeSantis), 95, of Orlando, FL, died October 1, 2011, at the Hunter Creek Nursing and Rehab Center in Orlando. Born May 16, 1916, in West Hoboken, she resided in Orlando for the past 4 years. Prior to that she lived in Fords for 52 years. Ida worked as a cashier at the Paper Basket in The Menlo Mall. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace church and loved spending time with her family.
Ida is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Edward J. Gawlak, who died in 1996; late brothers: Philip and Albert DeSantis; late sisters: Josephine Callari, Elsie DeVarti, and Margaret Mina.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Tartza and her husband David of Kissimmee, FL.; son, Richard Gawlak and his wife Maryanne of Plainsboro; grandchildren: Laura DiChiara and her husband Michael, Nicole Gawlak, and Richard J. Gawlak; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 6, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral services will begin Friday, October 7, 2011, at 8:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 9:00 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in East Brunswick.
