Obituary

Howard K. Dreizler, 92, of Plainfield, passed away on November 7, 2024, at CareOne at the Highlands – LTC, Edison.  Howard was born in Philadelphia on January 26, 1932, to William and W. Blanche Dreizler.  He was a resident of Westfield for many years before moving to Plainfield four years ago.  Howard was a proud graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy, Valley Forge, PA.  After graduation, he attended and graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Accounting in 1953, where he was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity.  Howard was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.

Upon returning from his military service, Howard went on to work as a manager for Bell of Pennsylvania, then transferred in 1967 to NJ Bell/Lucent Technologies and BellCore.  Throughout his professional career, Howard was the organist and choir director of a number of Episcopal churches: St. John's, Elizabeth; St. Andrew's, New Providence; and lastly, Holy Cross, North Plainfield. He was a substitute organist for St. Paul's, Westfield, his home church since 1967, up until a year ago. Howard was a longtime member of Echo Lake Country Club, Westfield, and loved to play bridge in person or online with his family or friends.

Howard was predeceased by his wife, Carol B. Dreizler and his brother, Frank B. Dreizler.

Howard is survived by his daughter, Anne Bullitt and son-in-law, James Bullitt IV; his sister, Florence Ogden; his sister-in-law, Beverly Dreizler; his former son-in-law, Robert Buraczynski; numerous nieces and nephews; his beloved friends and housemates, Carl Santiago and Kevin Early; and the many dogs that cherished his affection over the years.

A choral Eucharist will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 414 E. Broad Street, Westfield on Saturday, November 16 at 1 PM with a repast immediately following the service in the parish hall.

Cremation services were entrusted to Flynn and Son / Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, with a private burial at a later date at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002.
