Bill " Oldenboom
June 13, 1934 – September 12, 2022
Herman W. "Bill" Oldenboom, 88, of Budd Lake died Monday September, 12, 2022 at Hackettstown Medical Center after a brief illness.
Bill was born and raised in Perth Amboy to the late Herman Oldenboom and Teresa Zanzalari. Bill attended Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken before enlisting in the Army. He was an honorably discharged Veteran of the United States Army serving from 1955 to 1958. He worked as a machinist and for BMW as a service technician in their parts division for many years before his retirement.
Bill's family was the proud owner and operator of Oldenboom Dairy in Woodbridge. He was Porsche owner and enthusiast, was a member of the Porsche Club of America, the north New Jersey chapter, and the 356 registry. He drove his Porsche in various rally's and even took his own Porsche on the Indy track. He took joy in watching sports of all kinds. His favorite teams were the New York Rangers which he watched from the original Madison Square Garden, the St. Louis Cardinals and his favorite player Stan Musial, and the New York Giants.
Bill most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He never missed a baseball game, football game, soccer game, birthday or holiday. He always brought with him his smile, a firm handshake, and his special brand of humor or trivia. Bill made sure to capture the memories on one of his favorite cameras, always getting the best shot.
Bill is predeceased by his sister, Ruelita Booher. He is survived by his three children, John Glancy, Ann Marie Zarszynski, and husband Dean, and Roberta Oldenboom; his nieces and nephew, Ruellen, Charles; and Jennifer his beloved grandchildren, Christina, Edward, Thomas, Melissa, and William, along with many extended relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday September 17, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue Fords, NJ 08861. A prayer service will begin in the funeral home starting at 1:30 p.m. Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-851 , a charity very near and dear to Bill.
