Helen A. Thompson of Edison, at the age of 99, passed on to her eternal rest with our Lord on August 12, 2016, at Haven Hospice, JFK Medical Center. Born and raised in Elizabeth, Helen married and resided in Roselle, moving to Edison 45 years ago. Helen was a Supervisor of Quality Control at Metal Textile/General Cable in Roselle, which moved to Edison under the name of Metex, and held that position for 30 years. She was a communicant of St. Matthew the Apostle Church in Edison.

She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Anna (Matera) Moskwa, husband, William H. Thompson, grandson, Damian, brothers, Adolph and Walter, sisters, Gertrude and Stella. Surviving is her daughter, Barbara A. Sporer of Edison, grandson Michael B. Sporer and wife Cathy of Virginia, granddaughter Stacey Ann Daly and husband Peter, of Piscataway, great grandchildren Sean, Paige, and Morgan. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces, grand-nephews, as well as her daily canine companion, Mr. Nettles.

A family viewing will take place at Flynn-Koyen Funeral Home at 319 Amboy Avenue in Metuchen on Monday, August 15, 2016, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. This will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Matthew the Apostle Church on Seymour Avenue in Edison at 9:30 AM.
