Helen T. Pirre, 91, of Hopelawn, NJ, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family and friends at her home on January 19, 2021. She was born on November 25, 1929, in South Amboy, NJ, and was a graduate of Hoffman High School class of 1946. Helen worked for many years as a Data Entry Specialist for Prudential Insurance Company of America in Newark, NJ, and later at Chevron Oil Company in Perth Amboy .
Helen was a life-long communicant of Most Holy Rosary Church and with her husband Arthur participated in many fund raising events to help finance the building of the new church. She was also an active member of the Holy Rosary Seniors group.
Helen enjoyed being active and in her early years she belonged to several women's bowling leagues and in her later years she spent many hours assisting her husband to painstakingly restore 2 antique cars which received numerous awards and gained local and national recognition.
Helen was predeceased by her husband of 55 years , Arthur Pirre, in 2007; a sister Tekla Glebocki; and three brothers: Eugene (a Purple Heart recipient of WWII), Stanley and Jack Gatz.
Helen is survived by two sons, Raymond Pirre and his wife, Linda, of Lawrenceville, NJ and Donald Pirre and his wife, Judith, of Wind Gap PA; five grandchildren: Raymond Jr., Jaclyn, Melissa, Danielle and Christina; and six great-grandchildren: Dylan, Angelina, Dominic, Vera, Mila and Lorenzo; and a sister, Martha Gatz of South Amboy.
Funeral services are privately held.
