Obituary

Helen M. Nash (nee Kovacs), 92, of Fords, passed away on March 15, 2016, at J.F.K. Medical Center in Edison.  Born in Fords, Helen was a life-long resident.  For the last eight months, she resided at St. Joseph's Assisted Living in Woodbridge, where she was lovingly cared for by the whole staff.  She was a graduate of Woodbridge High School, Class of 1940 and a graduate of Rutgers University, receiving her BA in History in 1968.  She was a teacher at Our Lady of Peace for 31 years, retiring in 1988.  Helen was a one-of-a-kind, fun loving Diva who made everyone around her better and exhibited such strength that we affectionately called her our, "Queen Bee."  She assisted with the war effort, volunteered at the Office of Aging, was a world traveler, and especially loved her trips to Aruba.  She was an avid sports fan, who cheered on Seton Hall basketball and Red Sox baseball.  She was a member of the Rosarians and the Fords/Keasbey Seniors, and enjoyed frequent trips on the jitney to AC.  She had a sweet tooth and never turned down a sweet treat.

Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband, John "Pooh" Nash, in 1998; her brother "Fritz" Kovacs, and her sister, Ethel Harrison.

She is survived by her three children: Ronald Nash and his wife, Barbara, of South Orange; Phyllis Vida and her husband, Glen, of Mendham and Donna Nash and her husband, Gene Fauquier, of Fords; five grandchildren: Jefferson (Whitney), Colin (Tara), Devin, Josh and Dean Jennifer; and three great-grandchildren: Adelyn, Anderson and Sadie, who affectionately referred to her as their "GG."

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016,  9:30 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863 followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Fords.  Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm at the funeral home.  The Fords/Keasbey Senior Citizens will gather at 3:30 for prayer service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's name may be made to the Devereux Montgomery Group Home, c/o Ron and Barbara Nash, 385 Westend Road, South Orange, NJ 07079, which supports her grandson, Devin, and the autistic population.
