It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Harold A. Weil, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Harold, 94, of Edison, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
Harold was born and spent his early years in New York City and at the age of 5 he moved to Nutley, New Jersey. He graduated from Nutley high school (1949) and went on to earn a degree from Upsala college (1953).
Harold had a successful career as an Operations Manager for the Grand Union Company.
He is predeceased by his first wife Meryl, 1998; his parents Leonard and Rae Weil; and his Aunt Janet and Uncle Al Steyermark.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Peggy Weil of Edison, NJ; his children, Leonard Weil (Maureen) of Basking Ridge, NJ, Paul Weil (Meredith) of Brigantine, NJ, Alan Alkes (Christine Lewis) of Hudson Falls, NY, and Melissa Alkes of Glens Falls, NY; his grandchildren, Rachel Werner (Brendan), Brian Weil, Ben Weil (Maddie Hunt), Gabrielle Wolfe (Kellen), Brendan Weil, and Kyle Davis (Zoey Doran); and his great grandchildren, Kailo Davis, King Davis, and Margo Werner.
Harold loved spending time with his family and making them laugh with his jokes. He was an avid Mets fan and never missed a game. He also enjoyed Frank Sinatra, Big Band music and cars of all types.
Harold's kindness, generosity, and sense of humor touched everyone who knew him. His family and friends remember him as a man of great integrity, warmth and caring. Stories from loved ones capture his love for life and the positive impact he had on those around him.
The family will receive mourners on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 11am-12 noon at the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen, NJ 08840. A Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
