Gwendolyn M. Compton, 89 of Perth Amboy passed away on November 12, 2013 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy after a brief illness.

She was the daughter of James A. Compton and Marguerite D. Compton, who both predeceased her. She was also predeceased by a dear friend of many years, Myra Newsom, as well as a cousin, Camille Compton. The Compton family has resided in Perth Amboy for more than 50 years. Prior to that, they were residents of Woodbridge. She is survived by a cousin, James V. Compton of San Francisco, CA and many loving friends and neighbors.

Gwen was the owner and operator of Compton Insurance Agency, Perth Amboy until her retirement. She was always active in community affairs and programs. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Perth Amboy, NJ, Trinity Episcopal Church, Woodbridge, NJ, The Raritan Yacht Club, The Perth Amboy Women's Club, The Kearney Cottage Association and the Proprietary House Association. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Hall, Burlington, NJ.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM Monday, November 18, 2013 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 188 Rector St., Perth Amboy. Visitation will be held from 9 AM until the time of service at the church. Cremation services will be private. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Ave., Perth Amboy, NJ.
