Gustavo Rene Sampedro,77 of Sayreville, passed away on November 22,2019 at home.

He was born in Quito, Ecuador on April 18, 1942. He has resided in Sayreville for the last 15 years.

Rene, as he was known to family and friends, worked for the textile company La Internacional in Quito as a machine mechanic and supervisor. He retired after 25 years. Rene was employed at Suzie Mac Specialties in East Brunswick from 2006 to 2009 when he retired.

He was a member of Cranbury United Methodist Church.

Rene was a soccer enthusiast and played for the National team of Ecuador in the 1970's. He went on to study kinesthesiology,and practiced his massage therapy skills working for soccer teams and individuals. He enjoyed photography, Latin dance, and Andean folk dancing. He also like carpentry projects and working with his hands.

Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Linda Gabriel, his brothers Marco and Luis, and sisters Marina and Piedad, five children and ten grandchildren. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 10 AM - 12 Noon at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus
