Gregory W. Danese, Sr. (lovingly known as Billy to friends and family,) age 86, of Edison, entered into eternal rest on March 16, 2024. Gregory was born on April 24, 1937, to Bilbinio Gonzalez and Anna Danese. He has been a resident of Edison, NJ since 1987 and is formerly of Port Reading and Union City. He was a Plant Engineer of 25-plus years for Maxwell House, Hoboken, taking caffeine out of the coffee. Gregory served his country faithfully in the US Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, Fords.
Gregory enjoyed many hobbies and activities such as fishing, reading, playing the horses and other games, going down the shore, and spending time with his family. He was a music enthusiast with a love of all genres. During his later years, Gregory discovered a new hobby and started writing short stories. Gregory was extremely altruistic and was a supporter of many organizations.
Gregory was predeceased by his brother, Anthony Gonzalez.
Gregory is survived by his five children, Diana Gendreau, Karen Hulse and her husband Michael, Samuel Frankel and his wife Natalia, Gregory W. Danese, Jr. and his wife Nikola and Dani Danese and her husband Paul Marel; his eight grandchildren, Samantha, Lauralynn, Mark, Alan, Tara, Adam, Jason and Hollie; his ten great grandchildren, Anthony, Vincent, Elijah, Jordan, Jayden, Brooklyn, Reed, Wade, Hunter and Ivy; his brother, Daniel Gonzalez and his sister, Joanne Fornataro.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 2 PM to 6 PM at Flynn and Son / Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 10 AM from Flynn and Son / Mitruska Funeral Home, Fords followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church, Fords. Private cremation will follow.
