Gloria
Korneski
August 18, 2021
Gloria J. Korneski, 80, formerly of Edison, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at the Care One Assisted Living Center in East Brunswick.
Born in Hopelawn, Gloria was a resident of Edison for 52 years until she recently moved to East Brunswick 10 months ago.
Gloria was a graduate of Woodbridge High School class of 1957 where she met many lifelong friends. After graduation she worked as a Legal Secretary for the Levinson Law firm in Perth Amboy before becoming an Executive Secretary for Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick. After 10 years of working for some of the top executives, she chose to stay at home to focus her energy on raising her sons.
Gloria was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords for many years, where she and her husband were fixtures at Sunday Mass. The prayers of the congregation helped sustain her through her 15-year battle with congestive heart failure. She loved her family and did not let her health problems slow her down or stop her from attending any of her grandchildren's events. Besides doting on her grandchildren, Gloria also enjoyed traveling, cooking family favorites like her lasagna, as well as sewing, and doing arts and crafts, especially cross-stitch. She put her gift to good use making countless keepsakes and holiday ornaments for family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Stella Sak and her youngest brother, Dennis Sak.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 58 years, Donald A. Korneski; her sons, Douglas M. Korneski and his wife, Kelly, of Tennessee and Michael D. Korneski and his wife, Jennifer, of Spotswood; her beloved grandchildren: Isabella, Kathleen, Jack, and Nicole as well her dear brother, Alex "Butch" Sak and his wife, Maryann, of Brick. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly. Gloria never forgot family members birthdays, anniversaries, or other milestones.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 22, 2021, from 2 pm to 6 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford. Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 am from the funeral home, followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords. Entombment will follow in St. James Cemetery Mausoleum, Woodbridge.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to St.Jude.org or a charity of your choice.
