Glenn Berger, 66, of Edison, passed away on August 21, 2014, at the Center for Hope, in Scotch Plains. He was born on January 9, 1948, in Newark, NJ. He resided in Edison for many years, as well as Bayonne and Colonia. He graduated from Bayonne High School, Class of 1965, where he played varsity football and was on the swim team. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1969, where he was the President of his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Mu. Glenn was the Assistant Director of Human Resources at St. Elizabeth's Hospital and JFK Medical Center. He then became a teacher of American history at Perth Amboy High School, retiring after 19 years. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed reading, history, and politics. He was a member of the A.C.L.U.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 45 years, Rita (nee Rothman) Berger of Edison. Two daughters, Carly Nguyen and her husband, Khoa of Brooklyn, NY; Marissa Withers and her husband Kevin of Arlington, VA; and a grandson, Kien Max Nguyen.
The family will receive mourners on Sunday at 10:45 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. Services will begin at 11:30 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
