Obituary

Gladys Karch, 98, of North Brunswick, passed peacefully at her home on Wednesday morning, March 18, 2020.

Private Services will be conducted at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave Fords NJ 08863.

When you think of what her life was like and how things started out for her as a child, it probably wasn't easy. In the beginning she was raised by a single, working mother. She was a mischievous child, playing pranks on her neighbors and their property while her mother worked.

She grew up during the depression, but she came through fine, and I wonder if she ever dreamed that her life would have taken this path, but I do know that she got to achieve her dreams. She went to acting school, got to be an actress, star in plays, see Broadway shows and meet celebrities in Crape Suzettes. Mostly I got to witness her acting skills when she read stories to her grandchildren, she was mesmerizing. She also did a very good job of scrapbooking George C. Scott's life in photos and articles. I think he would have been touched by it. I also think she did quite a bit of acting while waitressing at the Brass Bucket, especially denying punching Alice and knocking her to the floor.

She got to live a long healthy life and was fortunate enough to see 3 generations of offspring, after marrying Bruce.

Then came Bruce Jr & Doris who brought Debbie into this world, then Dottie, who brought David in, Karen & Ralph who brought Kristin, Jessica, Ralph & Vinny in, then Hank. Barry & Joann brought Brittany, Stephanie & Nicole into this world, and Bryan who brought Joan in to the family. But it didn't stop there, Kristin & John brought in Holden, and Jessica & Joe brought in Rowan. Brittany brought Ian in.

Gladys was a wonderful person, she welcomed everyone with open arms that came into her home. She always had kind words to say. She was never judgmental or petty. She always offered her love& affection. I only remember hearing her complain when she got Orange Juice instead of Lemon-aid.

She was always supportive of all of us and always had a positive attitude in life. She made friends wherever she went, on trains, camping trips, Wal-mart, I even witnessed her befriend 2 biker gang members in a parking lot by going up to them & asking them if they needed help since their car hood was up. She never turned away an animal either.

She always seemed happiest when we were all together. The biggest thing that made her happy was seeing us happy. She'll always be in our memories and ours hearts. It won't be the same without her. We'll never forget her, or stop loving her.
