Obituary

Geraldine Ford's sun set on Sunday April 14, 2024, at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. She left this life to join her family members that are now in our Heavenly Father's care.

Gerri was born on August 31, 1984, in Brooklyn, New York, to her loving parents, Nicholas and Monica Ford.  She spent her earlier years growing up in Brooklyn surrounded by family and friends.  In 1995, her parents thought it would be best if the family moved to New Jersey.  They settled in Edison and Gerri received her education there.  She was a graduate of Herbert Hoover Middle School, Edison High School, and Middlesex County Community College.  She continued her education at Kean University where she received her Bachelor's degree and her Master's degree in Social Work.

Gerri felt called to social work and became a Licensed Social Worker within the state of New Jersey.  She was most recently employed by Bonnie Brae, a residential Liberty Corner school that serves as a safe haven for at-risk adolescents.  Gerri loved her job which included counseling, therapy and case management. She was able to put the skills she learned while in school to use all the while following her dream of helping others and making the world a better place.

Her hobbies were many but did not include reading! She read, when necessary, and as needed for school and work.  What she did love was traveling.  Gerri spent a lot of time exploring Puerto Rico as a local and would tell you she knew more about Puerto Rico than anyone else.  As a teenager, she visited Africa and engaged with her cousins, aunts, and uncles. She was particularly fond of her great-aunts, Dorothy and Vivian.  Visiting her older sister, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews in Florida was the highlight of her life.

Gerri will be truly missed and never forgotten. In her passing, she leaves behind to mourn her loss her loving parents, Nicholas and Monica Ford; her sister, Bernice; her nieces, Cheyenne and Rosie; her nephews, Neil, Joshua and Xander; her grand-neices: Isoki and Annuli; her grand-nephews: Jelani and Ashe; her aunts: Angela, Jeanette, Peggy, Beulah and Kathy; her uncles, Cedric and Charles; cousins: Chantel, Zakia, Mark, Ashley, Lavoy, Ethan, and Zoie; great-cousins: Darnell, Ciyanni, Makilah and Keigan; grand-cousins:  Caphire, Gewele, Elijah and Ethan-Aaron II; as well as a long list of doting family members in St. Lucia including: Monica, Angela, Claudia, Sylvia and Roslyn and in South Africa.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 8 AM to 9 AM at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords.  Funeral services will begin at 9 AM at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, followed by a 9:30 AM Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church, Fords.  Cremation will follow with a procession to Rosehill Crematory, Linden.
