Gerald Michael Chismar, 75, of Monmouth Beach, NJ passed away on August 25, 2021 in Long Branch, NJ.  Jerry was born in Perth Amboy and lived in Monmouth Beach for the past 43 years.

He was Principal of the Anthony V. Ceres Elementary School for 19 years before he retired in 2005 after serving a total of 39 years in the Perth Amboy Public School System.  An active Borough resident, Jerry served on the Monmouth Beach School Board of Education for 6 years (3 of which as President), he was Borough Administrator for 6 years, and served on the Zoning Board in town for 5 years.  Jerry was also a member of the Church of the Precious Blood in Monmouth Beach, and served in the US Army Reserves.

He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Helen Chismar, and his sister Audrey Melick.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Arlene Chismar, his daughter Nicole Chismar-DelSonno and her husband Dave, and last but certainly not least, his dogs Sunshine and Lucy.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021, from 2 PM to 6 PM at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ.

A funeral liturgy will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, at the Church of the Precious Blood, 72 Riverdale Ave., Monmouth Beach, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org , or the ASPCA, www.secure.ascpa.org .
