Georgia Coutros (nee: Counias), 91, passed away very peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on August 9, 2015 at Care One at the Highlands, Edison.
She was born in New York City and resided in Perth Amboy since 1947.
Georgia was a homemaker and was a devoted and dedicated member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Perth Amboy. She was instrumental in various organizations and served on the executive boards of the Parent Teacher Organization and Ladies Philoptochos Society. She also served as a Sunday School Teacher and as a member of the Senior Citizens of St. Demetrios.
Georgia was married to the late Louis Coutros of Perth Amboy on July 20, 1947 who was partner/owner of Coutros Bros. Wholesale Bananas, Inc., Perth Amboy. They had a wonderful, loving marriage for 56 years.
She was also predeceased by her parents, Demetrios and Efthimia (May) Counias, and a son, William (Billy).
Surviving are her daughters, Helen Horan, Mae Menchise and her husband Nicholas, her grandchildren, Melissa Sorrentino and her husband Nicholas, Kelly Amabile and her husband Christopher, and her great-grandchildren, Sienna and Savanna Sorrentino and Christopher and Kyle Amabile.
Georgia was a sweet, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held 10:15 AM on August 13, 2015 at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords followed by 11 AM Service of Divine Liturgy at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Perth Amboy. Interment will follow at Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy. Viewing will be Wednesday 4-8 PM with a Trisagion Service at 7:30 PM.
