Obituary of George Helyes
George Helyes, 89, of Toms River, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Community Medical Center in Toms River. Mr. Helyes was born in Bakony-Szentivany, Hungary to the late Josef and Maria Helyes and came to the United States in 1956. He had previously lived in Iselin before moving to Toms River eighteen years ago.
Mr. Helyes was employed by the Jewish Community Center in Edison as a maintenance engineer for ten years before retiring in 1990.
He was an avid outdoors man.
George was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are his loving wife, of sixteen years, Izolda Bokeria-Helyes, his two daughters: Linda S. Mordan of Phillipsburg, and Sindy Meador and husband Doug of Sandston, VA,, his two sisters: Teresa Staudinger of Clifton, and Ilona Bors of Bakony-Tamasi,Hungary, four grandchildren, Jennifer, Gabrielle, Lindsay and Lacy and four great grandchildren, Stevie, Levi, Evynne and Kyle Jr..
Funeral services will be held Saturday 11:00 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, 531 New Brunswick Ave. in Fords. Interment will follow in the Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery also in Fords. Visitation hours will be held Saturday from 9 am to 11 am.
