George T. Gano, 84, a lifelong resident of Perth Amboy, passed peacefully, on Friday, December 8, 2023, at the Hackensack Meridian / Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy.

Born and raised in Perth Amboy,  He was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School and had attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick.

He retired 12 years ago as an accountant and controller with Basic Line in Perth Amboy for over 6 years.

He was a 50 plus year member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Perth Amboy.

He was an avid NY Giants football fan.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #45 of Perth Amboy.

He proudly served his country in the US Navy.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia Gano who died in April of 2016, and his parents Joseph and Pearl Gano and his brother-in-law, John Petersen.

He leaves behind his three beloved children, Dawn, Erin and Wayne Gano his dear granddaughter, Christina Gano and his sister, Shirley Petersen all of Perth Amboy and his three nephews and their families.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 5 pm to 7 pm with a funeral service at 6:30 pm with the Rev. Kathy Genus officiating. at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863.  Cremation will follow privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
