Gary S
Ziznewski, Ii
March 29, 1983 – December 12, 2022
Gary S. Ziznewski II, 39, of Verona NJ, passed away suddenly on Monday December 12, 2022 at his home.
Gary was born in Perth Amboy NJ and grew up in Metuchen NJ along with his two siblings. He graduated from Metuchen High School in 2001 before attending Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. After graduating, Gary pursued his IT career in Boston before moving back to New Jersey to be closer to his family and his eventual wife Stacey. After a brief stint in Jersey City, Stacey and Gary settled in Verona NJ where they lived from 2012 until the time of death.
Growing up, Gary had a deep love for sports, in particular playing soccer and watching football. One favorite memory was watching the 1991 Giants Super Bowl win with his Dad, a passion that he continued to pursue despite extreme anxiety about the games' outcomes. His childhood was surrounded by loving grandparents and parents, siblings and cousins. He often reminisced about big holiday dinners, annual trips to Aruba and working in his family's flower shop. Given his wry sense of humor, Gary often got himself into ridiculous situations with his friends but always looked out for others along the way.
Above all, Gary's adult life was defined by family. He met Stacey in high school, where they had an immediate connection that eventually deepened in college. They married in 2012 after 9 years of dating. The two joked that they acted like an old married couple from a young age. Inspired by Gary's grandparents, they often referred to each other as "dear" in conversation and they loved nothing more than to make each other laugh.
In 2018, Gary and Stacey welcomed their first born, Dylan, followed by Charlotte in 2020. Gary's ultimate goal in life had been to be a dad and there was nothing he loved more than his two children. The kids loved him right back. From before he could talk, Dylan shared Gary's passion for Guns 'N Roses, often giving grand performances of Paradise City and Sweet Child O' Mine. And Charlie was always asking to ride her Dad's shoulders as they went on adventures. Gary often announced that his previous night's dreams were about the kids and made sure to tell his family every night that he loved them. He could also usually be heard telling Dylan and Charlie: "I was thinking about you all day today."
Gary is pre-deceased by his grandparents. In addition to his beloved wife of 10 years, Stacey (Kahn) Ziznewski, and his two precious children, Dylan and Charlotte Ziznewski, Gary leaves behind his parents, Cynthia and Gary Ziznewski of Metuchen NJ, his sister, Sara Cahill and her husband Thomas, of Metuchen NJ, his brother, Dan Ziznewski and his wife Jackie of Atlanta GA, and his loving mother-in-law, Sharon Kahn. Also surviving are Gary's 10 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 16, 2022, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Flynn and Son / Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave. Metuchen, NJ 08840. Private funeral services will take place on Saturday. December 17, 2022. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to the " gofundme " page that has been set up specifically for Gary's children, and family.
