Garrett M. Messick, 21, of Colonia, died suddenly on Wednesday, February 17, 2016.
He was born in New Brunswick, was formerly of Edison and had resided in Colonia. An avid dancer as a child, he won several awards for his Latin Dancing. He had been an outstanding athlete, excelling in baseball and football. He played in the Clara Barton Baseball Leagues, the Bearcats Football Leagues, high school sports and had recently been a member of the JFK Softball League . He was an avid N.Y. Giants footbal fan. Garrett was a graduate of JFK High School in Iselin, graduating with the Class of 2012. He was a former Medical Assistant with the Edison–Metuchen Orthopedic Group in Edison.
Garrett was predeceased by both his grandfathers, Michael Trujillo and Charles Messick.
He leaves behind his beloved mother, Michele Miranda and her husband Juan, of Colonia; and his beloved father, Garrett C. Messick and his wife, Erin, of Fords; his sister, Jillian Messick; his brothers, Noah and Matthew Miranda, Braedyn Messick, who was also his godson and Matthew Aleman; his maternal grandmother, Kathy Arocha and her husband, Jose, of Fords; his paternal grandmother, Gail Messick of Edison; and his great-grandmother, Claire Dowling of Westwood.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 20, 2016, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 pm, with a funeral service at 12:30 pm at the Flynn and son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863. Interment will follow in Clover Leaf Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodbridge.
