Gail Lease, 74, of Fords, passed away at home on November 2, 2020, after having to be placed on home hospice on August 16, 2020, following a stroke in July. She had also suffered from Alzheimer's for several years. She was predeceased by her father, Anthony Kratky, in 1966; her mother, Stella Falkowski Kratky, in 1993; two aunts, Josephine Breen and Helen Bernard; and a nephew, Douglas Hilbig.
Gail was born in Perth Amboy on April 13, 1946, and lived in the Fords section of Woodbridge Township all of her life. She graduated Woodbridge High School, Class of 1963, and the Fashion Institute of Technology, in 1965.
Gail was a Bank Teller for over 12 years at the First Savings Bank of Woodbridge, and then at its successor, the Provident Bank, in their Fords and Iselin branch offices. When not working at the bank, she enjoyed making clothes for her family and friends, knitting, crocheting, and cross-stitching and also designed wedding gowns and bridal party dresses for dozens of bridal parties over the years.
After leaving banking, Gail taught 2nd grade at Our Lady of Hungary Catholic School, in Perth Amboy, for 2 years and later taught 3 rd and 4 th Grade P.R.E.P. classes for 11 years in the Our Lady of Peace P.R.E.P. Program, in Fords, during which she was named their "P.R.E.P. Teacher of the Year" for the 2012-2013 school year.
Gail was a life-long communicant of Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, in Fords, where she was a member of the Choir as well as the Blue Army. She was also a member of the Clara Barton Senior Social Club, where she enjoyed many enduring friendships
Gail is survived by her husband, and high school sweetheart, Robert Lease, of Fords; their two daughters, Tara Coffman, and her husband, Steve, and their two children - and her beloved grandchildren - Abby and Eli, of Jackson, and Kelly Lease, of Jersey City; a sister, Joyce Miller, of Dover, DE; a niece, Susan Cava and her husband, Harry; and several cousins
Visitation will be 4-8 pm on Thursday, at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral Services will begin on Friday, at 10 am in the funeral home, followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords. Interment will be in St. Gertrude's Cemetery, in Colonia, NJ.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gail's name to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
