Obituary

Frederick A. Henry, 91, of Perth Amboy died on Friday, July 2, 2010 at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was born in Perth Amboy and was a lifelong resident. He worked as a service technician with Gabowitz TV and Appliance in East Brunswick for 40 years, retiring in 1996. He was a lifelong member of St. James A.ME. Zion Church in Perth Amboy where he served on the board of trustees and was the church organist for more than 50 years. Fred also set up the electronic systems for many churches in Central Jersey and enjoyed being a ham radio operator. He served his country in the Army during WWII.
He is predeceased by his wife, Hattie Mae Harris Henry in 2002; brothers, Burnett O. and Arthur Henry. He is survived by two sons, Roger L. (Deborah Greenberg) of Columbia, MD, William N. of Perth Amboy; daughter, Ida M. (Andre) Britton of Germantown, MD; four grandchildren, Rachel, Hanna, Sidney and A.J.; mother-in-law, Ida M. Davis of Emporia, VA; two sisters-in-law, Constance Henry of Red Bank, Lissie Henry of Fords; first cousin, E. Lorraine Gibbs of Edison.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 from 5-7pm at St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, 74 Commerce St., Perth Amboy followed by a 7pm service with Rev. Amos Dickerson officiating. Burial will take place on Thursday at 11am at the Alpine Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Ave., Perth Amboy.
