Franklin A. Applegate, 71, of the Morgan section of Sayreville died Thursday March 10, 2011, at JFK Medical Center in Edison.

Born February 28, 1940, in Perth Amboy he attended local schools and graduated Perth Amboy High School Class of 1958 and Rutgers University Class of 1962. He moved to the Morgan section of Sayreville in 1966. Franklin was a field auditor with the State of New Jersey Department of Labor for 34 years and a life-long member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Perth Amboy where he served as Treasurer for many years. He enjoyed bowling and card playing.

Franklin was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Gail (Kmiecinski) Applegate, on September 6, 2010. Surviving are two sons: Aaron Applegate Esq. of Hoboken and Alan Applegate of Morgan also a brother William Applegate and wife Linda of Torrance, CA.

Visiting hours are on Sunday, March 13, 2011, from 2-6PM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 183 Rector Street Perth Amboy, NJ. There will be a Eucharist Service on Monday, March 14, at 10:00AM at the church. Cremation will be private.

Due to the Season of Lent, flowers will not be accepted in church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Living Memorial Foundation of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
