Frank R. Mercurio, 97, of Brick Twp, passed peacefully, on Thursday, June17, 2021, at the Chelsea at Brick Assisted Living in Brick Twp.

He was a lifelong resident of Perth Amboy and had resided in Linden, before moving to Brick 6 years ago.

He proudly served his country during WWII in the US Army, He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Presidential Distinguished Unit Citation, with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, and also the Combat Infantry Badge.

He was employed for 31 years as a Plaza Supervisor for the NJ Highway Authority in Woodbridge, before retiring in 1986.

He was a Life Member of the Disables American Veterans, Edison Chapter, and a member of the Catholic War Veterans Post #1613 Perth Amboy.

He was a communicant of Most Holy Rosary RC Church, now known as Good Shepherd Parish in Hopelawn,

He was predeceased by his parents; Martin and Catherine Mercurio, his beloved wife, Anna Jannucci Mercurio, who died in 1984, his beloved son, Martin Mercurio, who died in 1999, his long time companion of 30 years, Margaret Kradlak, who died in 2014, and his 9 siblings; Rose Mercurio, Mary Russo, Angelina Kosh, and Joseph, Tony, George, John, Ralph and Ernest Mercurio,

He leaves behind his three beloved grandchildren; Courtney Johnson, Dana Reiff and Rachel Willard and his five dear great-grandchildren; Connor, Scott, and Michael Johnson, and Jarred and Megan Reiff and his daughter-in-law, Shelly Mercurio.

Graveside funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 12 noon at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Oregon Ave. Hopelawn, NJ 08861.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to: Good Shepherd Parish, 625 Florida Grove Rd., Hopelawn, NJ. 08861.
