Francis "Fran" Fitzmorris, 74, of Edison, passed peacefully on June 10, 2022, at the Center For Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains.

Fran was born on January 18, 1948 in South Amboy and had resided in Edison for the last 44 years.

He received his BA degree from Belmont Abbey College in Belmont NC. and taught Social Studies at St. Thomas the Apostle School in Old Bridge for 39 years before his retirement in 2010. Fran was also proud of being a high school sports official for over 35 years and was a member and past president of both the NJSFUSEC and the RVSOA in addition to being a member of IAABO, Board #33.

Fran was a communicant of St. Matthew RC Church in Edison.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Thomas and Catherine (Bader) Fitzmorris. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years, Elaine (Holup) Fitzmorris, two daughters, Shannon Marie Tremel and her husband, Brian of Hamilton, and Kerri Ann Fitzmorris and her husband, Jason Richards of Edison. Fran is also survived by his two cherished grandchildren, Lila Jane Tremel and Kai Theodore Richards, his brother, Thomas Fitzmorris and his wife Laurie of Bayville, as well as two nephews and a niece.

The greatest joys of Fran's life were his family, traveling every summer for over 40 years with his family, by car, to all 48 states and after retirement to Alaska and Hawaii to complete all 50 and, last but not least, his avid following of the Norte Dame football team.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 15, from 4-8 PM at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863, with a funeral service on Thursday, June 16, at 8:45AM at the funeral home followed by a 9:30AM Funeral Liturgy at St. Matthew the Apostle Church in Edison. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
