Obituary

Floyd J. Argentiere, Sr., 90, of Fords, NJ, died on Tuesday October 11, 2011. at his home.

He was born in Rahway, and he has resided in Fords for the last 55 years. He was an Electrical Engineer with Merck & Co. in Rahway for 46 years before retiring in 1986. He also owned a TV and Radio Repair Business that operated out of Two Guys Dept. Store in Woodbridge, NJ.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords and a member of their Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the 115th Infantry when they stormed Utah Beach during the invasion of Normandy on D-Day. He fought his way from Normandy all the way into Berlin and was awarded the Purple Heart, The Bronze Star, the Combat Infantry Badge, the European Theatre of Operation Medal with four Battle Stars and the Arrowhead in recognition for the Normandy Invasion and the European Theatre Victory Medal.
He was a member of the NJ State VFW Post 15031. He obtained his pilots license in 1947.

Floyd was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Argentiere, who died in June of 1996; his brothers, Warren in 2000 and John in 2008; his sister Christine Kirby in 2001; and his parents, Mazzino "Patsy" and Josephine Argentiere. He is survived by his daughter, Joyce M. Kunie and her husband John of Colonia; his two sons: Floyd J. Argentiere, Jr. of Sayreville, and David Argentiere of Fords; his two grandchildren: Catherine and Deanna Kunie of Colonia; his sister, Frances Gerow of Rahway; and his sister-in-law, Frances Argentiere of Clark, NJ. Floyd is also survived by his loving cats.

Funeral Services will be on Friday, October 14, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863 followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church in Fords. Interment will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 13, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m.
