Obituary

Fiorello T. Parente, 93, passed peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023, at his home in Fords.. He was born on Staten Island, NY and has resided in Fords since 1961. Babe, as he was known to family and friends alike, served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  After his discharge, he worked for L.A. Dreyfus Company (a subsidiary of Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company) in Edison, NJ from 1955 until his retirement in 1992.
Babe was married to Dorothy (Baxter) of Tewksbury, MA for 58 years at the time of her death in 2011.  He is also predeceased by his parents, Attilio and Clorinda (Provenzano) Parente; four brothers, Gaetano (Tom), David, Gregory, and Attilio (Big Babe); and one sister, Mary Scanzani.
Babe is survived by his six children, Marilyn B. Parente (Richard Urban), Karen Parente (John Capiello), Sharon Parente, Brian Parente (Heather Singleton), Debbie Parente, and Donna Parente; and his grandson, Timothy Parente.  Also left to cherish his memory are sisters-in law Marie Parente and Virginia Parente, brother-in-law Terrence McCarthy, and his many dear nieces, nephews, and special family friends.
To honor their dad, Babe's children request that all who attend his viewing wear a flannel or plaid shirt, or their favorite Mets apparel.

Friends may call at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 2:00p - 4:00p  and 6:00p - 8:00p. where funeral services will take place on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 10:00am. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, that contributions may be made in Mr. Parente's name to St Vincent de Paul at St Matthias Church, 168 JFK Blvd., Somerset, NJ 08873, or to the Friendly Sons of St Patrick of Hunterdon Co., PO Box 83, Annandale, NJ 08801.
