Fern L. (nee: Pohlman) Prouflias, 70 of Edison, passed suddenly, with the love of her family at her side on Thursday October 22, 2015 at the RWJU Hospital, New Brunswick.

Born in Jersey City, she lived most of her life in Edison.

She had been a foster parent of many children of many years.

She was an avid bowler at Edison Lanes and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxilliary in Milltown.

Fern is predeceased by her parents; Henry E. and Mary L. (Pohlman) Prouflias and her brother, Roy Pohlman (2006.

She leaves behind, her beloved husband, of 52 years, Nicholas Prouflias, her daughter, Tanya Prouflias of Middletown, three sons, Dean Prouflias and his wife Charlene, of Great Meadows, Mark Thomas of Bangor, PA and Justin Prouflias of Edison, two grandchildren, Tyler and Shealyn and her siblings; Gary Pohlman and Mary Carol Stewart both of Texas, Faye Reck of Edison and twin sisters, Jeaneen Panzano of Lakehurst and Dale Muir of Somerville, along with many nieces and nephews, including Glenn Muir of Edison.

Visitation will be on Monday, October 26, 2015, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm with a funeral service at 8:30 pm at the Flynn and son / Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave, Metuchen, NJ 08840. Cremation will follow privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Fern's memory to the charity of your choice.
