Obituary

Dr. Felonese W. Kelley, 93, of Metuchen entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 6, 2011, at the Arbor Glen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bridgewater.

Dr. Kelley was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and has resided in Metuchen for the past 61 years. She was an elementary school principal with the Woodbridge Township Board of Education for 40 years before retiring in 1986. She graduated from Birmingham Southern College; attended The University of Alabama Medical School; received her Master of Education degree in Administration and Supervision from Rutgers University; and her Doctorate from Fordham University in 1976.

Dr. Kelley was a past deacon at the Metuchen Reformed Church, past chaplain at the Metuchen Elks lodge, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, past President of the Metuchen Genealogy Club, past Vice President of the Metuchen Senior Citizens Commission, and a member of the National Education Association, New Jersey Education Association, Middlesex County Education Association, and the Woodbridge Education Association.

She is survived by her son, John W. Kelley and his wife Susan of Metuchen; five grandchildren: April, Stacey, Kerri, Michele, and Kristin; and 8 great- grandchildren.

Private services were under the direction of the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen. Interment will be in the family plot in Birmingham, Alabama.
