Eugene Joseph Getz, 66, of Edison, passed away on April 27, 2024, at JFK Medical Center, Edison.  Born in Perth Amboy, he had lived in Edison since 1983.  Gene was a graduate of Perth Amboy Vocational High School in 1976.  He was a Maintenance Mechanic for Middlesex County Vocational High School in Piscataway for 33 years and retired in 2011.  Gene also was a Volunteer Firefighter first for Perth Amboy Fire Department and later Edison Fire Department.

Gene is survived by his wife, Carolynn Getz of 43 years, his sons, Anton Getz and Andrew Getz and his wife, Margaret; his sister, Margaret Ann Garrity, and his beloved dog, Hildagard.

Funeral services are private under the direction of Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords.
