Obituary

Ethel Rose Schulhaus Klein, 87, of Bridgewater, passed away at home on April 16, 2015. Born in Queens Village, NY, on May 12, 1927, she resided in Colonia for 47 years before her move to Bridgewater.  She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1945 with honors in Latin and received a scholarship to secretarial school.  Girl Scouts was prominent throughout her life.  Her first Girl Scout leader, Fannie Klein, became her mother-in-law.  After moving to NJ, she became a Girl Scout leader which later in life led to her involvement with National Girl Scouts.  She helped create the Jewish Gold Award for Girl Scouts.  Her other main volunteer involvement was The Women's League for Conservative Judaism.  She was involved with the Sisterhood at B'nai Jacob and Beth Mordecai, where she was a branch President and National Vice President.

However, her greatest joy and most cherished accomplishments were her family.  She was the beloved center for her daughters, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.  She also brightened the lives of many friends with her love and generosity.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, Jarvis Klein, in 2011, and her late brother, Leonard Schulhaus.

Ethel is survived by two daughters, Bernice Lamey and her husband, Paul, of Millington, NJ, and Marcia Huntsman and her husband, Ken, of Clifton, VA; four grandchildren:  Miriam, Steven, Stephanie, and Nicole.

The family will receive mourners Monday, April 20, from 11 am – Noon at Temple Beth Mordecai in Perth Amboy, NJ.  Services will be at Noon and interment will follow in Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge.

In honor of Mom's memory, donations may be made to the Jewish Girl Scouts or Temple Beth Mordecai.
