Obituary

Esteban "Steve" Perez, 77 of Perth Amboy, passed away at The Venetian in South Amboy on March 16, 2025. He was born on April 1, 1947, in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico. Steve was a Veteran of the US Army and he fought in the Vietnam War. He was an Oil Deliveryman for Banas Oil in Perth Amboy. Steve was a communicant of La Asuncion Church where he was an active member, volunteering for the St. Vincent DePaul charity. He also served as an Usher and was a member of the Cursillista. Steve was a member of the Pepino Athletic Club and enjoyed playing dominoes.

He was predeceased by his father's Natividad Perez, Manuel Roman and mother, Felicita Rivera Mendez Roman; two sisters, Anna Roman and Primitiva Rodriguez, and a brother, Angel Roman.

Steve is survived by five daughters, Susan Nieves, and her husband, Dennis, of Monroe Twp; Cindy Perez, of Woodbridge; Lianna Perez, of Woodbridge; Marta Perez, of FL.; and Evelyn Perez, of Chicago; his wife Gloria Perez, three step-sons, David Garcia, of Perth Amboy; Daniel Garcia,  and his wife, Karina, of Williamstown, and Alex Garcia of Perth Amboy; seventeen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters: Carmen Andujar, Lucy Cardona, Rose Soto, Carmen Roman and Elba Perez, and a brother, Jaime Roman.

Visitation will be at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 424 East Ave., Perth Amboy, NJ 08861, on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 4-7 pm. Funeral services will begin Friday at 9:30 am at the funeral home. Followed by a 10 am Funeral Liturgy at La Asuncion Church in Perth Amboy.  Interment will be in Alpine Cemetery.
