Ervant
Mansfield
April 3, 1925 – June 12, 2026
Ervant Simonian Mansfield, 101, entered into eternal life on Friday, June 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in New York, New York, in 1925, Ervant was the daughter of the late Hachadour and Perghouhie (Ovaguaim) Simonian. She grew up in Nutley, New Jersey, and graduated from Nutley High School in 1943. She resided in Sayreville, New Jersey, for 70 years and spent her later years at Heritage of Clara Barton in Edison, New Jersey.
Ervant was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Richard J. Mansfield; her two brothers, Charles and Al Simonian; and her two beloved sons-in-law, John W. Byrne and Jeremiah J. Masin.
Ervant devoted much of her life to her family as a homemaker and took great pride in raising her three daughters. After her children were grown, she worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s printing business, LaRoe Press, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
In her younger years, Ervant was an equestrian. She embraced new pursuits and adventures throughout her life. She developed a love for skiing, became an avid golfer and enjoyed Metuchen Golf and Country Club. These hobbies took them to many beautiful places: from Austria to Vail and from Pebble Beach to Bermuda. She was a somewhat reluctant first mate aboard her husband's sailboat. However, her greatest joy was the family vacation in Vermont, when the entire family gathered at their summer rental in Ludlow. Nothing made her happier than having everyone under one roof.
A woman of faith, Ervant was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of South Amboy. She cherished the fellowship, worship, volunteerism and lasting friendships she found within her church community.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Mansfield Byrne of Edison, NJ; Judy Mansfield Young and her husband, Dennis Young, of Wall Township, NJ; and Nora Mansfield Masin of Colonia. NJ. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Jacquelyn Young of Wall Township, Greg Young and his wife, April, of Wall Township, Zachary Mansfield Masin of Rahway, NJ, and great grandchildren Olivia and Myles Young.
Services will be private. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Flynn & Son / Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of South Amboy, 150 Broadway, South Amboy, NJ 08879 or to a charity of your choice in her memory.
