Ernesto Che Guevara Christian Indri: A Life Full of Humor, Heart & Love for Family

Che, as he was known to everybody, was born on September 23, 1968 to Justine Isabel (nee Morrissey) and Dante Louis "Mario" Indri in New Brunswick, NJ.

Che passed away on May 19th, 2025, at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick at the age of 56. He lived his entire life in Highland Park and was a long-time employee of his uncle's company, Morrissey Paving.

Che was predeceased by both of his loving parents and is survived by his seven siblings: Jessica Indri-Tietjen, Christina Caposino, Nicholas Indri, Marisa Crawford, Rebecca Indri, Sarah Aliberti and Patrick Indri, as well as 14 nieces and nephews who brought immense joy and light into his life.

A gifted athlete as a young man, Che excelled at both hockey and basketball until suffering a severe knee injury. He continued to be an avid sports fan all his life, passionately rooting for his Knicks, Mets, Islanders, Cowboys and oft times Jets. As an adult, one of Che's favorite pastimes was playing golf with his friends– who could always count on him for laughter and unforgettable one-liners.  Everyone who met Che was charmed by his amazing personality and love for life.

Che was an incredibly generous person, leaping at the chance to help family, friends and community in a myriad of ways whenever he was able to do so. He had many lifelong friendships, the depths of which were evident in the love and support shown during his final days. His absence will be deeply felt by the community and all who had the good fortune to cross his path. He'll be missed by his siblings and all who loved him until the end of our days. Godspeed Che. We hope and trust you are with our parents looking down on and rooting for us all now and forever.

Cremation will be private. A celebration of Che's life will be held at The Reformed Church of Highland Park on Saturday June 7th at 10am where he volunteered his time to help those in need. The Church is located at 19-21 South Second Ave. in Highland Park, NJ.
