Ernest Rios, 89, of Roselle and formerly of Fords, passed unexpectedly on March 21, 2024 at the Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth, NJ.

He was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, was formerly a resident of Fords for 53 years, before moving to Roselle.

He loved being outdoors and had a knack for gardening and landscaping. He had a passion for home repairs, riding motorcycles, fixing cars, listening to country music and dancing. He was also an avid boxing fan.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Rose Marie Rios, who died in 2013, his grandson Jason, and his 3 brothers, Anibal (Nico) Rios, Guito (Luis) Rios and Frankie (Efrain) Rios and Iseral Rios.

He leaves behind his 3 beloved children, Sandra Thompson and her husband Ward of Phillipsburg, NJ, Phyllis Mordoh and her husband Stuart of Edison, NJ, and Deborah Rios of Parlin, NJ, his 9 grandchildren, 12 great -grandchildren, 2 brothers, Arcenio Rios in Puerto Rico and Jose Rodriguez of Lockhaven, PA. and 2 sisters, Maria Milagros Arce of East Stroudsburg, PA, Evangelina Quiones, of Newark, NJ, and Ernie's companion since 2015, Eileen Lynch-Barnes of Roselle, NJ.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 25, 2024, from 3 pm to 7 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning, starting at 10am, from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
