Obituary

Ernest Calvin Davis, of Edison, died peacefully at home on May 28, 2015.  He was 91 years old.  Born in Perth Amboy, Ernie attended Perth Amboy High School.  He resided in Fords with his family for 55 years.  He worked in the Service Department at Elizabethtown Gas Company for 42 years.  He was a parishioner of St. Peters Episcopal Church in Perth Amboy, where, as a boy, he sang in the choir with his cousins, Hugh and Neil Davis.

Ernie was a proud WWII Navy Veteran.  His rank was Carpenter's Mate, 3 rd Class.  He served on the USS President Adams in the Pacific, and earned the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic & Pacific Campaign Medal with Star, the WWII Victory Medal and a Commendation Medal.

Known as Ernie by friends and coworkers, his family and neighbors called him, "Cal."  He was very devoted to his family and helped raise his grandsons after the untimely death of his son-in-law, John Lamont.  He was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants.

Ernie was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Irene Babinec Davis.  He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Davis Lamont, his grandson Christian Lamont and his wife, Danielle, his grandson Daniel Lamont and his wife, Kimberly, and four beautiful great-grandchildren Haley, Matthew, Nathaniel and Luke.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863.  Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 am at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Service of Requiem at St. Peters Episcopal Church, Perth Amboy.  Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Wounded Warriors Project or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
